2025-26 League Award Winners Announced

Allan Cup Hockey League announced on Wednesday evening the individual award winners for the 2025-26 season.

COACH OF THE YEAR
For the third consecutive season, the Wentworth Gryphins have picked up the coach of the year award, this year going to Matt Beca. In his first year behind the bench, after replacing Mark Ziliotto, the reigning coach of the year, Beca led Wentworth to a 17-6-0-1 record, finishing in second place. The Gryphins would finish the season with the league’s best power play (36.5%) and best penalty kill (76.4%).

TRAINER OF THE YEAR
Stephanie Troscinski, of the Stoney Creek Tigers, has been named Trainer of the Year. Troscinski has been in the Athletic Therapist role for over 20 years covering nearly 30 different teams and individual sports during that time at the professional and amateur levels including Olympic and Special Olympic athletes.

TOP GOALTENDER
For the second consecutive year, Daniel Svedin of the Stoney Creek Tigers has been named the ACHL’s Top Goaltender. During the 2025-26 season Svedin appeared in nine games, collecting a 7-0-1-0 record and a save percentage of .929. He finished the season with 2.88 goals against average.

LEADING SCORER
Alex Hutchings is the 2025-26 Allan Cup Hockey League scoring champion, scoring 2.2 points a game this season, amassing 44 points over 20 contests. Of his 18 goals, three were on the man-advantage, one while shorthanded and two were for game winners. On February 5th, Hutchings collected his 100th career ACHL point and became the all-time leader for overtime game winning goals in league history.

MOST VALUABLE PLAYER
St. Catharines Saints’ David Pacan has been named the league’s Most Valuable Player. Pacan, who finished second place in league scoring was a 2.05 points per game player while picking up 41 points over 20 games. Of his 41 points, ten came way of the man-advantage, scoring four times and adding six assists. The Ottawa native was a huge factor in the Saints’ late season push to capture a berth in the post season.

Allan Cup Hockey League action continues Friday night with the start of the Robertson Cup Playoffs. The Stoney Creek Tigers will visit the Dundas Real McCoys for Game 1 of the best of five semi-final series at the J.L. Grightmire Arena starting at 7:30pm. The other semi-final will get underway on Saturday, March 7th when the St. Catharines Saints host the Wentworth Gryphins at the Merritton Centennial Arena also starting at 7:30pm.
