Eight Was Enough For Stoney Creek

Dundas returned home following a tough road loss Thursday night to face the Stoney Creek Tigers. While the opening period remained competitive, the Tigers seized control over the final 40 minutes, defeating the Real McCoys 8-3 behind Dylan Madge's hat trick performance.
Madge opened the scoring at 5:24 of the first period and bookended the frame with another goal at 12:41. Nathan Longpre tallied in between, giving Stoney Creek a 2-1 advantage after one.
The Tigers exploded in the second period, potting four unanswered goals to build a commanding 6-1 lead. Cordell James, Madge, Mitchell Reid, and Bo Webster all found the back of the net in the middle frame.
The teams traded goals in the final period, with each side scoring twice. Dundas' Mackenzie Wood opened the third period scoring before Reid notched his second of the game for the Tigers. Wood answered back with his 14th goal of the season before James capped the scoring with his eighth.
In goal, Stoney Creek's Daniel Svedin turned aside 33 of 36 shots to earn the victory, while Dundas' Ryan DeMelo made 28 saves on 36 shots.
The Tigers return to action Saturday night, continuing their road trip in St. Catharines against the Saints at the Merritton Centennial Arena with the puck drop scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Dundas will be back on home ice next Friday when they host the Cambridge Hornets at J.L. Grightmire Arena at 7:30 p.m.
NOTE – Dundas’ captain Simon Mangos played in his 177th game as a Real McCoy, which ties the franchise record for games played by a defenseman along with Tim Brown (2004-12).
