McCoys Pick Up First Win Of Season
Allan Cup Hockey League action started up for the 2025 portion of the schedule on Saturday evening with the Dundas Real McCoys pulling off a 13-8 victory over the Stoney Creek Tigers. In the victory, Cam Fergus, Slater Doggett, and Igor Gongalsky each picking up five points.
The Tigers jumped out to the early lead when they took advantage of a turnover behind the Dundas net just 40 seconds into the game with Jordan Gignac picking up his first goal of the game. Gignac would then score at 8:03 of the period for a 2-0 lead for the home side. However, the McCoys would score three times in 43 seconds with Gongalsky scoring twice and Tim Carr picking up the goal sandwich between Gongalsky’s.
Dundas’ lead didn’t last long as Matt Ruberto scored just over a minute later, followed by Jesse Healy scoring his first of the season. But the scoring in the opening frame didn’t end there. Doggett and Brad Bonello helped Dundas regain the lead over the final 2:30 of the first period.
In the second, the McCoys took control of the game, scoring four times. Mackenzie Wood picked up his first two goals of the season while Paul Cianfini and Fergus added their own goals. Cole Poliziani would try to get Stoney Creek back into it, splitting the Dundas goals. Fergus’ goal with 64 seconds remaining in the period would be the game winner.
The teams would combine for another seven goals in the final frame with Dundas scoring four times to the Tigers’ three. Doggett and Taggart score one each while Fergus scored twice to complete the hat trick for the McCoys while Gignac, Tommy Sumi and Dylan Madge scored for Stoney Creek.
Mike Mole got the win for Dundas, making 31 saves on the night. Tymen Edelkoort started the game for the Tigers but was lifted after the opening 20 minutes of play. Reamy McIntyre played the final two periods of the game and taking the loss, facing 29 shots on net.
Dundas will be back in action on Friday January 17th at home when they host the Wentworth Gryphins starting at 7:30pm. Stoney Creek is next scheduled to play on Saturday January 18th when they host the Ontario Elite Hockey League’s Minto 81’s at Gateway Ice Center starting at 6:30pm.

This past week, Don Robertson and Suze Rickli represented the Dundas Real McCoys when dropping off a cheque to
Keaton’s House for $7,700. Donations were collected from fans and sponsors at their December 13th home game. The players also contributed $500 to the total. Keaton’s House is a children’s hospice being built in Dundas.
