It was another tight game between the Cambridge Hornets and Dundas Real McCoys at the J.L, Grightmire Arena on Friday night with the home side scoring three unanswered goals to earn their fifth win of the season.
Dan Brewer, a former Real McCoy, scored on his former home ice to give Cambridge a lead at the 12:54 mark of the opening period. That goal held up as the only one until late in the second when Danny Attridge and Paul Cianfini scoring at 15:03 and 16:28 respectively.
Ralph Taggart would add an insurance marker with 72 seconds remaining in the game, securing the McCoys victory.
With the win, Dundas moves to 5-4-0-0 on the season, good enough for third place. That puts them one point back of Stoney Creek and three back of the Wentworth Gryphins who are the league leaders. The loss for Cambridge drops them to 3-9-0-0, six points back of the McCoys.
Mike Mole was in the net for the Dundas win, stopping 24 of 25 shots he has faced in the contest. At the other end of the ice, Marc Williams made 29 saves but took the loss.
Cambridge will look to end their losing skid, currently at six games, when they take on the Stoney Creek Tigers on Saturday night at the Stoney Creek Arena. For Dundas, they will be back in action on Friday December 12th then they host the St. Catharines Saints on CHCH Toy Drive Night. Fans attending the game on Friday can bring a new, unwrapped toy to donate to charity and will receive $5 off admission for the game.
