Dundas finished their 2024-25 ACHL regular season schedule on Friday night with an overtime victory on home ice over the Wentworth Gryphins. The Real McCoys would never lead in the contest until they scored in extra frame.

It didn’t take long for Wentworth to grab the lead as Matt MacLeod picked up his 8th of the season just 41 seconds into the game. Ralph Taggart would even the score for the home side just under ten minutes later, but it only took 79 seconds for the Gryphins to regain their lead off Kevin Harvey’s stick. Before the opening period of play could end, Cody Goloubef scored for Dundas to even the score at 2 with a power-play marker.

The second period was much of the same as both teams would score twice. Wentworth would once again score first in the frame, getting a shorthanded goal by Cory Conacher and an even strength goal from Elijah Roberts at 12:00 for a two-goal lead. Dundas rebounded late in the frame with tallies from Nick McMullen and Shane Conacher, their third and second goals of the campaign respectively.

The Gryphins looked to have taken full control of the contest in the third, gaining goals from Mike Lomas and Tory MacLean by the 9:05 mark. But McMullen picked up his second of the game just a minute later to pull Dundas within a goal.

With time running out, the McCoys threw everything, including the kitchen sink, at the Wentworth net and evened the score on Mackenzie Wood’s goal at the 18:55 mark, sending the game to an extra frame.

Fans at the J.L. Grightmire Arena settled in for what they thought was going to be a long overtime period with the teams going back and forth. What they got was a quick 41 second period with Shane Conacher netting the winner.

Goloubef led the way for Dundas with four points (goal, three assists), while both Roberts and Cory Conacher each had a goal and an assist for the Gryphins. In net, Ryan Demelo picked up his second win of the year, stopping 39 of 45 shots on the night. Joseph Murdaca took the loss for Wentworth after stopping 43 saves.

The Gryphins will conclude their regular season with a road game on Saturday night at the Gateway Ice Centre against the Stoney Creek Tigers starting at 6:30pm.
