For the second straight meeting, the Dundas Real McCoys were able to defeat the Stoney Creek Tigers. This time it was on home ice by a score of 5-2, earning their second win of the season. Nick McMullen and Ralph Taggart led the way for the home side with a goal and two assists while Kyle Essery scoring both Tigers goals.

The game remained scoreless until just before the halfway point of the first period when Stoney Creek’s Essery scored his first goal of the contest. He then extended the lead with 2:33 left in the frame. Both of Essery’s goals would come with the man advantage.

From there, it was all Dundas. Just 1:57 into the second period, Brad Bonello got the McCoys on the board as he deked netminder Daniel Svedin and scored into an open net. Trevor Atkinson evened the game at two. With just over two minutes to go in the middle frame, McMullen picked up a loose puck, walked in and snapped it in for the eventual game winner.

Dundas went on to add to their lead in the third with Taggart scoring from the faceoff dot just before he took a big hit at 11:04. Nolan Sheeran put the game away with his first of the season, into an empty net, at 17:57.

Ryan DeMelo picked up the victory in the McCoys cable cabana, closing the door on Stoney Creek after giving up two goals in the opening period and making 31 saves on the night. Svedin took the loss after allowing 4 goals on 33 shots.

Dundas will be back on home ice again this weekend when they host the Ontario Elite Hockey League’s Durham Thundercats on Sunday afternoon at 2:30pm.
