Pietrantonio Powers Tigers Past Hornets

It was another spirited affair between the Cambridge Hornets and Stoney Creek Tigers on Saturday night when they took to the ice at the Stoney Creek Arena. The game was close until the final ten minutes of the game when Stoney Creek ran away with the game for a 7-1 win.

Josh Pietrantonio got the scoring going, picking up his sixth of the season for the Tigers at 10:59 of the first period. However, Kyle Campbell took advantage of a four-minute power play and got Cambridge on the board, tying the game with 51 seconds remaining in the opening period.

The game remained tied at one until the 14:25 mark of the second with Pietrantonio found the back of the net for the second time on the night, giving Stoney Creek the lead.

Bo Webster, Andrew Whalen, Josh Ranalli, Chris Knighton and Paul Geiger all scored in the third, sealing the victory for the Tigers.

Matt Sagrott picked up the win in the Stoney Creek net, allowing just one goal on 25 shots. In the Cambridge crease, Mason Kameka would allow all seven goals on 43 shots, but he kept the game close for as long as he could, making some big saves while the Tigers had the man advantage.

Stoney Creek will next take to the ice on Thursday, December 11th when they face the Wentworth Gryphins at the Harry Howell Arena in a battle of the top two teams in the Allan Cup Hockey League. For the Hornets, they are off until Friday, December 12th when they host the Gryphins at the Galt Arena Gardens.
