Robertson Cup Championship Dates Announced

Allan Cup Hockey League today announced the schedule for 2025 J. Ross Robertson Cup Finals. This year’s finals will see the defending two-time regular season champion Wentworth Gryphins take on the Dundas Real McCoys in a best of three series.

Wentworth earned a bye to the Finals by virtue of capturing the regular season title while the McCoys defeated the defending Robertson Cup champion Stoney Creek Tigers two games to none in a best of three semi-final series. The Finals will kick off on Thursday March 20th at the Harry Howell Arena in Flamborough. Game 2 of the series will shift to Dundas at the J.L. Grightmire Arena on Friday March 28th. Should a third and deciding game be needed, it will be played back in Flamborough on Thursday April 3rd. Game time for all three games will be at 7:30pm.

The Gryphins finished the regular season with a 9-2-1 record, claiming the regular season title, while Dundas finished in third place with a 4-7-2 record. Head-to-head in the regular season, Wentworth won five of the six meetings, with the lone loss coming in overtime on February 28th in Dundas.

Cory Conacher and Alex Hutchings led the way in scoring for Wentworth, finish tied for second in the league, with 22 points (11 goals and 11 assists) while Trevor Atkinson was the leading scorer for Dundas with 17 points (four goals and 11 assists).

In net, Wentworth used four goaltenders with Dawson Carty and Mike Camilleri combining for eight of the starts and picking up six victories. Joseph Murdaca joined the Gryphins mid-season and started four games, finishing with a 3-1 record. For Dundas, Mike Mole started the majority of games and ended the regular season with a 2-6 record. Ryan Demelo would start four of the games, going 2-2, but would go 2-0 against Stoney Creek in the semi-finals allowing just four goals.

While every stats line points to the Gryphins being the odds-on favourite to capture their first Roberston Cup, you can not count out Dundas who have pretty much a full lineup of players ready to go. Both teams will be ready to go for Game 1 on March 20th and the outcome of the series will guarantee a new champion in the Allan Cup Hockey League for 2025.
