The Field Is Set For The 2025 Allan Cup Challenge

On Saturday afternoon, the Minto 81’s captured the Ontario Elite Hockey League’s J.F. Paxton Trophy and earned the final spot in the 2025 Allan Cup Challenge tournament. This year's tournament will take place at the Harry Howell Arena in Flamborough, Ontario, and is hosted by the Robertson Cup Champion Wentworth Gryphins. The even will run from April 20th to 26th.

Joining the Gryphins and the 81’s in the tournament will be the Stoney Creek Tigers, Dundas Real McCoys (both of the Allan Cup Hockey League), St. John’s Rooftech Capitals (Newfoundland and Labrador) and Clarenville Ford Caribous (Newfoundland and Labrador).

The round robin portion of the schedule will run from Sunday, April 20th through Tuesday, April 22nd. Each day will see two games with puck drop scheduled for 3:30pm and 7:30pm. Teams will compete in two divisions and will only play within their division for the round robin. Division one will be comprised of Clarenville, Dundas and Stoney Creek while Division two will be comprised of Minto, Saint John’s, and Wentworth.

The first-place team in each division will advance directly to the semi-finals scheduled for Friday, April 25th. They will compete against the winners of the crossover quarterfinals, scheduled for Wednesday, April 23rd. Games on both days will have start times of 3:30pm and 7:30pm.

Saturday's (April 26th) championship game will be televised at 3pm on CHCH TV and streamed online at https://www.chch.com/live/.

The Allan Cup is Canada’s oldest national hockey championship and is awarded annually to the Senior ice hockey champions in Canada and for the first time in its history, will see an AA team from Ontario compete for the title.
